Food
Monmouthshire has an abundance of quality food and drink producers, ranging from meat, fruit, vegetables and honey to wine, cider and apple juice. The wonderful local food offer was first publicly acclaimed by Franco Taruchio in the 1960's, when he established The Walnut Tree near Abergavenny which sourced food locally and seasonally where possible. This recognition and appreciation has continued to grow, the Abergavenny Food Festival has become a nationally renowned "foodie" event and in 2008 Monmouthshire was awarded The True Taste of Wales Food Tourism Destination Award. We have a great number of top class chef's and establishments who rate our local food and drink offer.
